Richard Beattie
Hi, I'm Richard
I like robots, IoT and digital fabrication
Currently, I'm an engineer at C5R building the physical environments where models can conduct scientific research.
I grew up in Dublin, Ireland. As a teenager, I became obsessed with bats and built bat detectors for a tenth of the usual cost, which led me to represent Ireland at the International Science and Engineering Fair, where the project placed in the top 15 worldwide. I then spent five years studying EECS at MIT, building robots in my spare time and doing research advised by Prof. Daniela Rus on swarm robotics.
